RIYADH: A Saudi national was executed Sunday after being convicted of murder.

Hadian Al-Qahtani was found guilty of shooting dead Abdullah Al-Qaoud following a dispute, the Interior Ministry said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.

The latest execution brought the number of convicts put to death this year to 72. They include 47 people executed for terrorism on Jan.2.

Murder, drug trafficking, armed robbery, rape and apostasy all punishable by death under the Kingdom's laws.
