In an attempt to crack down on illegal migrants living in mountain areas and valleys, the province of Uhud Rafeeda is working to implement a new security plan in cooperation with various government agencies. The plan will also help address drifting carried out by some young people throughout the province.

Saeed bin Dalbouh, the province’s governor, confirmed this plan after a meeting with the heads of various government departments and agencies last week, during which attendees discussed important issues related to citizen services, comfort, and safety.

Dalbouh said many illegal immigrants choose to live in far away areas of the province because of its rugged geographic terrain, arduous mountains and large valleys, where they can hide from security authorities and citizens.

The presence of illegal migrants and those who lack identification cards, has lead to an increase in the number of begging cases in markets and around mosques throughout the province and surrounding villages, a matter that was also discussed during the meeting.

He confirmed that the comprehensive plan has been established to address and end these issues in order to best serve the interests of residents of the province.

This new security plan was developed and approved by the Emirate of Asir, under the guidance of the Prince Faisal bin Khaled, and will include cooperation among various government and security agencies, sheikhs of tribes, and citizens.

“The province, in cooperation with security authorities, is also tackling the problem of drifting in the province, which poses a threat to the lives of those who practice it and watch it,” Dalbouh said. According to the official, a new security plan was prepared to curb the phenomenon, which involves identifying the locations where drifting takes place, establishing security checkpoints to identify those involved, and applying penalties accordingly.
