The Ministry of Education has decided to set examinations for those who apply for leadership positions in the future, including all general managers, managers of education and their assistants in the ministry.

Additionally, the ministry called on all educational supervisors, both male and female, and school leaders including principles and their assistants, to undergo these professional tests at the start of the next educational year in order to assure their qualifications.

For the new staff, the ministry emphasized that their appointment to particular positions will be based on their passing these tests.

In a related development, participants in the recent International Higher Educational Conference called on universities to develop curriculums for students that will help them to better confront the needs of society in the future, saying that all nations face huge environmental related challenges and are using resources rapidly, thus producing the need for proactive environmental solutions.

Participants flayed the commercial agendas that have been pushed to the forefront recently by globalization, as well as criticising the absence of competitiveness between universities, saying that this has contributed to the damaging of moral in universities.

Conference members also reaffirmed that higher education is an important foundation for social and economic life, which therefore makes universities the focus of the associated increased expectations.
