JEDDAH: Pakistani Consul General Aftab Khokher, who is leaving the Kingdom at the end of his official term, has praised the efforts to Engineers Welfare Forum (EWF) to establish a Saudi-Pak training institute.

At a farewell reception, Khokher was informed about the institute details submitted to the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The institute is aimed at developing the professional skills of both Saudis and Pakistanis in coordination with the JCCI.

In his address, Khokher referred to EWF’s activities and said he was impressed that they covered professional, social and welfare fields.

“As the consul general, it is our obligation to support organizations like EWF, Pakistan Journalists Forum, Doctors Forum, etc., who have been helping us to approach the community,” he said. “In the past, members of political organizations were taking the lead but if some help was required they were not available.”

He said the agreement of EWF with JCCI for the establishment of the Saudi-Pakistan institute is a great step. He said that it will not only extend professional training, but also help enhance Saudi-Pak relationship in the long run.

He praised the EWF for preparing the architectural design of two halls built at the consulate for facilitating consul work to Pakistanis and other guests.

He urged EWF to create a database of Pakistani engineers working in different disciplines across the Kingdom.

EWF President Abdul Aleem Khan said Khokher’s continuous support to the forum was exemplary.

EWF General Secretary Masroor Elahi, who conducted the event, reviewed the activities and thanked Khokher for his support.
