A prominent Saudi scholar, author and television host has written a play on the Saudi-led coalition’s campaign to restore the legitimate government in Yemen.

“The play is for the elementary pupils of Al-Khaleej School in Riyadh,” said Mohsin Shaikh Al-Hassan. “I hope it will help enlighten the children that their government under Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman means well for Yemenis ...”

He said the play depicts events before and during Operation Decisive Storm in the form of conversations between pupils. “I have talked to them and everyone was interested in participating.”

The play is an artistic expression of reality, said Al-Hassan, who holds a doctorate degree from an American university. He said Saudi children are seeking answers to questions they have about the campaign because they are constantly asking their elders about it.

“I thought of writing something to make them understand that their country loves peace and this was its aim when it responded to the call for help from Yemen’s legitimate government.

“As their elders, we have a responsibility to explain the reasons behind Operation Decisive Storm. We want to protect them and make them understand that their government has not wronged anyone, nor does it plan to do so,” he said. “We also want them to understand that after the Saudi-led coalition’s action is over, Yemen will be different. With the aid of $274 million from Saudi Arabia through the United Nations, Yemen will be better off,” he said.
