The Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) plans to construct more than 50 meteorological stations to monitor weather patterns in the skies over the Eastern Province’s regions, local media said, quoting a PME official in the province.

The new stations will register weather elements, provide accurate weather forecasts and send alarms to the concerned parties to take appropriate actions in any abnormal weather conditions, head of PME in the Eastern Province Mohamed Al-Qahtani said. He said the Eastern Province has seven fixed meteorological stations, the largest at King Fahad International Airport (KFIA), in addition to another seven mobile stations. The new stations, ordered by PME president, are planned in major towns of the province such as Ras Tanura, Jubail, Khafji, Khurasaniyyah, Munaifa, Khobar and Qatif.
