JEDDAH: A mother is under suspicion of stabbing her disabled daughter to death.

Investigators assigned to the case of the six-year-old girl killed in her home in Al-Thaghr neighborhood have discovered that the mother was taking medication for a mental illness. There was no forced entry into the house as she claimed nor was anything stolen.

Neighbors also contradicted the mother’s statement that strangers had entered the building. The mother had claimed that two strange women had knocked on her door. When she opened it, they knocked her unconscious. When she woke up, she found her child covered in blood, she claimed.

Further investigations revealed the mother had beaten the child several times in the past, despite numerous attempts by her husband to have her treated. The girl died from several stab wounds.

Col. Ati Al-Qurashi, spokesman for Makkah police, said the Al-Kandara police department in Jeddah has arrested several suspects in connection with the case.

The girl’s father is reportedly distraught and cannot believe his daughter is dead.
