RIYADH: A senior teacher at the Sri Lankan International School in Riyadh died on Tuesday following a brief illness.

Mohammed Hussain, 70, was the head of the English department at the school. He had come back from vacation from Colombo only a week ago.

A board member of the school, Mohamed Ruzni Farook, told Arab News that the sudden death sent shockwaves among members of the Sri Lankan community.

“He was a dedicated teacher,” said Farook, while recalling his contribution in improving education at the school.

He was also the chief editor of school’s annual Wisdom magazine. During his period, Hussain organized several co-curricular activities to improve English language learning among students of the school.

“His untimely death is a great loss to the school and to the whole community,” said Farook.

“Hussain was a devoted teacher. I can still vividly remember the English Day drama presented by his students,” said former Ambassador Mohamed Hussein Mohamed in a message on Facebook.
