The Presidency of Meteorology and Environment predicted on Monday that there would be heavy rain and thunderstorms later this week over the central, western and the eastern parts of the Kingdom.

Rain fell over several parts of Riyadh on Monday, with some reports that there was also a brief hailstorm in the northern parts of the city.

A wildlife expert told Arab News that there would likely be rainfall in the coming days, which would be good for the environment. “We anticipate heavy showers followed by the regular summer season,” he said.

The temperature during the day was 27 degrees Celsius, while the forecast for the night was 18 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the weather over the Eastern Province would be unstable for the next 10 days with rainfall and unpredictable atmospheric conditions, according to Mohammad Tarabzouni, head of the meteorological center at King Fahd International Airport.

Quoting statistics from the Eastern Province’s government forecasters, he said that it was common to have such weather this time of the weather leading to spring.

Tarabzouni said there would be warm, moist winds of between 20 and 40 kilometers per hour and temperatures hovering around 26 degrees Celsius. There may also be fog in places.

There would also likely be unstable sea conditions with waves of between 1 and 3 meters, he said.
