JEDDAH: Beginning on Monday, Saudi Arabia expects rain in a number of regions, especially in the north and central areas.

“Monday will see a period of instability in the Kingdom’s weather and it is expected that weather changes will occur in a number of areas with active surface winds that may carry dust,” said Hussain Al-Qahtani, spokesman of the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME).

“This period of instability will be accompanied by rainfall and thunder in a number of areas especially the northern and middle areas with active surface winds, accompanied by dust that may limit vision in the Tabuk areas including the coastal, northern borders, Jouf and Hail.

He added that rainfall was expected to reach Madinah and the coastal cities. Wind accompanied by rainfall in the middle areas of the Kingdom is expected in Qassim and Riyadh as well as in Hafr Al-Batin in the Eastern Province.

Al-Qahtani said that rains are forecast for the western highlands which will affect Asir, Jazan and Al-Baha and parts of the southeastern province, Makkah and the Najran area.

He said surface winds were expected near the Red Sea and they would be south and south-westerly at between 18 to 38 k/ph with sea waves reaching up to two meters in some southern areas.
