A senior official from the Civil Defense urged authorities to be prepared to meet any emergencies at the southern borders of the Kingdom.

Sulaiman Al-Amro, head of the Civil Defense, told his regional directors on Monday that they should make all preparations for any emergencies along the southern borders.

He urged them to coordinate with all concerned governmental bodies in enforcing the highest level of preparedness for any occasion.

He also said that the authorities should be prepared for any evacuation programs for villages in the southern part of the Kingdom.

Last week, on a proposal made by Health Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb, the Health Ministry unveiled a comprehensive emergency health plan in the southern part of the Kingdom near the Yemen border.

According to the scheme, integrated teams comprising medics and paramedics were formed to provide emergency treatment.

During his recent visit to the southern part of the Kingdom, the minister ensured that all facilities have adequate units of blood for any needs which may arise.

In a statement on Twitter, the health minister said that his ministry has made all arrangements needed for this emergency plan on account of the ongoing operation against the Houthi rebels in Yemen. He also said that these facilities and services will operate on a 24/7 plan.
