A Saudi man, who identified himself as an employee of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, climbed to the top of the organization’s building in Riyadh and threatened to commit suicide, reportedly over the payment issue.

The SRCA authorities succeeded in bringing the man down from the top of the building and handed him to police for investigation.

Saudi bloggers said the authority was not paying attention to the rights of its employees, especially those engaged in providing first-aid services, such as special allowances for dealing with infectious diseases.

Another blogger, who did not give his name, said he knew a number of SRCA employees who have not received their salaries for quite some time and urged Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to intervene.

“The salary received by first-aid service staff is less than that of administrators,” said another blogger. “An employee receiving a salary of SR4,000 does not have enough money to take care of his family,” added another.
