The Shoura Council called on the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) to adopt a national strategy to attract national and foreign investments in sustainable and nontraditional economic sectors.
The call was made at the 28th session of the council held under the chairmanship of Deputy House Speaker Mohamed Al-Jafri on Tuesday.
The council members called on SAGIA to give a detailed report on the contribution of foreign investors to the national economy, particularly in the area of transfer and localization of technology.
The house also urged SAGIA to revise the current investment policies to give way for small and medium enterprises to effectively function in contributing to business activities in the Kingdom. Members also urged SAGIA to raise the level of coordination between SAGIA and other concerned bodies to attract foreign and national investments in sustainable investment areas.
The council reviewed a report of the Committee of Economy and Energy based on the regular report of SAGIA for the year 1434-35, said Assistant House Speaker Yahya Al-Samaan.
Subsequently, the council heard a report presented by the Committee of Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities based on the regular report of the Ministry of Culture and Information for 1434-35, said Al-Samaan.
The council asked the Ministry of Culture and Information to develop skills of its employees through training courses.
The Shoura members also called on the ministry to streamline the participation of Saudi male and female intellectuals in events taking place abroad to portray cultural diversity of the Kingdom’s various regions.
