RIYADH: The Council of Ministers has condemned the attack on citizens close to a mosque in the city of Saihat in Qatif province last Friday, which saw several killed and injured.

At a Cabinet meeting chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Monday afternoon, the ministers described the attack as “a heinous crime.”

They sent their condolences to the families of the dead, and wished those injured a speedy recovery, according to a statement released by Culture and Information Minister Adel Al-Toraifi to the SPA following the session. He said the ministers have also condemned Israel for its oppression of the Palestinian people, including the “brutal crimes” committed by settlers and violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The ministers appealed to the international community, including the Security Council and other organizations, to place pressure on the Israeli regime to stop its criminal activities, said Al-Toraifi.

Al-Toraifi said that the Cabinet reviewed reports on various regional and international issues, particularly those affecting Muslim nations and others where conflict is taking place.
