JEDDAH: The Saudi Environmental Society (SENS) introduced the first-of-its-kind electronic game on environment during a workshop here on Wednesday.

The event, which was held in strategic partnership with the United Nations and the World Health Organization, was attended by Princess Nora bint Turki Al-Faisal Al-Saud on behalf of Lolowah bint Faisal Al-Saud, vice-chairperson of the Board of Trustees and general supervisor of Effat University.

The game was installed in mobile phones for more than 300 children with the aim of spreading awareness about the environment and its protection, recycling and to involve the children in the environment protection program.

Society Chairperson Magda Abu Ras welcomed the guests and officials from government departments and ministries.

Ras said that SENS, through this workshop, would try to introduce the concept of preservation of the environment and promote sustainable development.

The society aims at improving the environment in various provinces of the Kingdom and encourage volunteers in the field.

Princess Nora bint Turki said women can play a key role in environment protection because they are the ones who guide children at home and make important decisions.

Society Chairman Mohammed Ali Zainal said the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has stressed on the protection of the environment with policies and strategies.

He said the Kingdom is working within the global system to preserve the environment and take advantage of global experience.

The workshop included 13 different activities with information booths and also presented 55 papers on environmental education with entertainment for children. A large number children from different schools visited the event.
