RIYADH: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has issued a warning that unregistered skin-lightening products are being sold on the Internet containing toxic substances that can cause serious health problems for users.

These products claiming to bleach the skin contain several harmful ingredients including Glutathione, according to a report posted on its website recently. These products are sold under brand names such as Tatiomax, Saluta, Reiki and Glutax and are injected into the skin.

The SFDA stated that these products were dangerous because it was not known how they were produced. People should also not buy these products from pharmacies, it stated.
