RIYADH: Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will arrive here Wednesday on a three-day visit to discuss key regional and international issues and matters of mutual interest to further enhance cooperation.

Sharif is expected to meet Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and other high-ranking officials.

A senior diplomat at the Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh on Sunday confirmed the trip.

Asked about the purpose of visit, the diplomat, who requested anonymity, said the opening summit of the Kingdom-led 34-nation military alliance is expected later this week and most likely Sharif will attend the conference.

Leading Pakistani English daily Dawn, quoting government sources, reported that Sharif is scheduled to visit the Kingdom from March 9 to 11 and is expected to attend the inaugural summit of the Islamic military alliance, which the Kingdom earlier announced to combat terrorism.

The meeting is reportedly taking place on March 10.

The issues likely to be discussed during the bilateral meeting include Pakistan’s role in the alliance and Saudi financial assistance to Pakistan.
