JEDDAH: Jeddah police are investigating the case of a six-year-old disabled girl who was found dead inside a family house in Al-Thagr in the south of the province.

The details of the incident which took place at noon Wednesday were recounted by Jeddah police, who received a report about it and moved swiftly to the scene for investigation.

In a statement recorded by police, the victim's mother said that two women knocked on the door of her house and, when she opened it, they hit her on the head, causing her to lose consciousness. When she recovered, the woman found her daughter soaked in blood with the two women nowhere to be found.

The investigators inspected the crime scene and took fingerprints, and searched the house for any evidence of robbery, but found nothing missing, making them further suspicious of the crime.

Sources told a local publication that the father and mother of the dead girl were detained until all investigations were completed. The forensic team examined the body, which is currently being held in the morgue.

Media spokesman for Makkah police Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said that the Al-Kidrah police station in Jeddah received a report saying that a disabled girl was found killed with a sharp instrument, and that the key suspects in the case have now been detained in order to be referred to the relevant body of jurisdiction.
