AL-AHSA: Al-Ahsa craftsmen have begun to showcase their handmade products in a traveling exhibition in commercial complexes. This comes as part of an initiative of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) and the National Program for Handicrafts (Barea).

According to the organizers, the initiative aims to support craft-makers by providing outlets in malls to showcase their products in traveling exhibitions during the weekends, thus allowing them to enter the labor market in a flexible manner.

The first traveling exhibit was held in Rashed Town Square Complex in the presence of Barea Program representative in Al-Ahsa, Mohammed Al-Auifer, with the participation of 10 craft-makers who showcased various products, including palm and wood handmade products, sewing, embroidery as well as crochet goods. Importantly, a group of female artists also participated in the exhibition.

The exhibition project reflects the understanding that handicrafts are the most beautiful aspects of heritage that reflect the lives of Saudi society members. They also contribute to the improvement of the craftsmen's and craftswomen's incomes, raise their living standards and increasing the economic recovery of commercial and tourist movements.

The SCTNH seeks to support craftsmen and productive families and market their products through the establishment of festivals, events and bazaars in cooperation with charities and shopping centers, thereby achieving the preservation of handicrafts from extinction while ensuring the quality of the product.
