Television dramas, especially Turkish plays, have a significant impact on the minds of Arab youths, reveals a survey conducted by a student of King Saud University.

According to the study, carried out by Abdulmajeed Talha of the College of Arts, 70 percent of those questioned said Turkish dramas had a bigger impact on them.

The study showed that 51 percent of the respondents said that they preferred to watch Turkish soaps. Thirty-four percent said that they preferred to watch Arab soap operas while only three percent preferred foreign series.

A good 44 percent of those survey said that Turkish dramas deal with important issues while 13 percent said they watch for entrainment.

Talha said that television series have become tools to change perspectives, thoughts and values, adding that these programs create cultural and behavioral problems in Arab societies, especially among the youth.
