The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Director Lee Young met with Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani at the GCC headquarters recently to discuss the role of multilateral cooperation in sustainable development.

“During their meeting on Monday, the two leaders discussed various aspects of cooperation between the GCC and the UN, with focus on areas requiring development and ways of further enhancing joint cooperation,” a GCC spokesman said on Tuesday.

They also explored joint cooperation in various economic development fields and discussed ways and means to further increase UNIDO cooperation by supporting GCC efforts to promote sustainable development in general, according to the spokesman.

Furthermore, Lee reconfirmed the help of UNIDO in supporting the GCC to further enhance the contribution of the industrial sector in the process of economic development in the gulf countries.

Al-Zayani also took a moment to express appreciation for UNIDO’s tangible efforts to support the GCC so as to help in the industrial sector’s contribution, which will help the progress towards even greater sustainable economic development.
