Wives of Heads of Missions (WHOM), a social association of representatives from 60 countries formed by spouses of heads of diplomatic missions, met at the ambassador of Brunei’s residence to celebrate and review the cultural activities of 2013.

WHOM President Sabine Farra de Cerda, wife of Argentinian envoy, lauded the hospitality showed by Saudis to WHOM members, saying the group aims to build bridges between nations by bringing people together for a better understanding of different cultures through open dialogues and activities.

“WHOM stands as a sample of humanity.

We organize socio-cultural events to create an atmosphere that promotes international recognition and appreciation of cultures. Our representatives have largely benefitted in understanding the Saudi culture through WHOM associations,” Sabine said.

The group discussed proposals for the upcoming events, as well as their visit to the Masmak Fort and the ancient site of Dirayyah earlier this year to study the historical background about Saudi Arabia.

The visits were organized by the Saudi Commission of Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA). Interactive activities, including a live cooking session at Mariott, were also held during the visits.

WHOM members appreciated personal interaction with prominent Saudi women at various events.

“The most memorable occasion for WHOM members this year was the insightful meeting with Lubna Al-Olayan, leading Saudi businesswoman of Olayan Foundation, while a dinner with Princess Adila bint Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, at a ‘Saudi Heritage’ event will be an unforgettable experience for all our members,” Sabine said.
