DAMMAM: A Saudi woman has been deceived for many years by her husband who claimed that he was Saudi. His papers have been shown to be false and he married her with forged documents.

Umm Khaled, who has two children from her charlatan husband, said that he had abandoned them, fearing the punishment he would face.

The lawyer for the woman, Khaled Hassan Al-Bruaik, said that he had sent letters to the governorates of Riyadh and Dammam, to human rights organizations, and the court, but has received no response.

Al-Bruaik confirmed that his client had appealed to the embassy of her husband’s country but it asked her to produce his passport in support of her claim.

Umm Khaled spoke of the deception that had destroyed her life. The marriage contract witnessed properly, the consent of her guardians were given, and the ceremony was documented by a marriage official in Riyadh.

She explained: “What caused me to doubt was never seeing any of my husband’s official papers during our marriage. When I confronted him with my doubts, he angrily divorced me and fled, leaving me and our two children.”

She then went to the Civil Affairs Department where she discovered that her husband’s file had been canceled.

Umm Khaled appealed to officials to help her two children and give them nationality since they are threatened with expulsion from school in addition to the psychological problems caused by their father’s dishonesty.
