MAKKAH: The police here have arrested a man for allegedly raping and threatening to kill a young woman who was adopted by his family.

The 29-year-old woman said that she had undergone medical tests and was questioned by members of the National Human Rights Commission in Makkah, a local publication reported recently.

The mother of the accused has rejected the allegations, claiming that her son treated the woman as his sister and cared for her. The mother claimed the woman ran away from their house, was arrested by the police and placed in the Al-Zohour orphanage in Makkah.

However, the woman claimed that she had run away from the home of her adopted family because of the alleged rape, which she said took place four months ago. She had also been treated at a local hospital for stress, she claimed.

The police have refused to comment on the case because information on such incidents are not disclosed to the public.
