JEDDAH: After a holiday break and to greet the new year, the FBA (Filipino Basketball Association) 37th Season played 6 games for its Week 6 schedule at the weekend at the Sheraton Jeddah Hotel Sport Complex basketball court here.

To start the the twinbill Thursday was the D Pool 1 won by King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital over ALJ-CDC 77-75 on a three-point play by Palomo, who scored 13 points while being named Best Player of the game.

Tigero top-scored for KFAFH on 22 points with Lucas on 19. It was the second straight victory for KFAFH in a tie for the group lead with idle Nexus 1. The loss was the second in three games for ALJ-CDC.

Alberto, Boyce and Ditucalan were the leading scorers at ALJ-CDC on 21, 20 and 19 points respectively.

Capping the week was the B category game between Tamimi Petro Rabigh and Nesma, which Petro Rabigh won by 74-63 for its second victory in three games.

Villegas was named Best Player with 15 points but it was Petro Rabigh teammates Napiza and Alcantara who bore the soring brunt on 15 and 18 points. Castillo 25 and Villanca 18 led Nesma which dropped its second straight game.

The double round-robin B category also features unbeaten Nexus (2-0) and KIA.

In a pair of D Pool 1 matches, Fawri Moneygram and Saudi Diyar both played Jeddah Hilton with mixed results, and found themselves tied in three-way logjam at 2-1 in the team standings with Mussali Gold. Idle Uncle Majid Rice & Toppings leads the division on 2-0.

Fawri was at the short end of a 67-59 verdict in the first game Friday against Jeddah Hilton, which failed to get a weekend double when it lost its Thursday game against Saudi Diyar 72-63.

Saudi Diyar was led by Best Player Del Rosario on 17 points, while Misa and Carbonell added 13 and 11 points respectively.

Against Diyar, Jeddah Hilton had John Encina grabbing scoring honors on 21 points with Almario 12 and Pamplona 9. Encina was again the top scorer with 30 points against Fawri and claimed Best Player citation. France and Celestra contributed 12 and 8 points for Jeddah Hilton.

Warriors won their debut game in D Pool 2 against Atlas Copco 60-43, as Best Player Sonny Bathan tallied 17 points to go with Yumena and Arlanza’s 13 points each. Talaguon and Dorado scored 8 and 7 points for Atlas Copco.

Durat Al Arous kept winning in category C, beating Al Mabani 81-68 in a supposedly strong match. It was Durat’s third consecutive victory while Mabani absorbed its first defeat in three games.
