JEDDAH: Make no mistake. With a second grand slam, Taurus is the hottest team to mount a title run in the OFBC Friday Morning League 5+1 Season 4 at the Ice Land Bowling Center here.
Owner of four straight Team of the Week victories and in the lead since the start of the tournament, Taurus achieved the slam during the 12th session when it swept the awards on offer for Team of the Week, men’s Bowler of the Week and ladies Bowler of the Week.
A 20-0 shutout of D’ Luf’s Strikers on total pinfalls of 2, 633-2, 458 and rank points of 7 and 5 gave Taurus the leading tally of 27 points on the day, with Cyclone, the previous week honoree, on 26.
With only two weeks left in this second round of eliminations, Taurus is a cinch to nail the No. 1 spot with a massive 32.5 lead in the team standings over its closest pursuer Cyclone.
Cyclone was also a winner by shutout over Guardians Thunder on total pinfalls of 2, 499-2, 287 and rank points of 6-3.
Selections crushed Krau Thai Restaurant 16-4 and their total pinfalls of 2, 665 was worth the highest rank points of 8 for a total of 24. Krau Thai carded 2, 419 pinfalls for 4 rank points.
In the other match, Zikato Strikers overwhelmed Troopers 18-2 (2, 274-2, 193 2-1). Zikato totaled 20 and woeful Troopers 3.
Jun Pamintuan and Fedelyn Bustinera sealed the Taurus slam that duplicated a fourth week feat albeit on perfect 28 points by clinching the individual awards in their divisions on 627 and 548 respectively.
Using a five-man team to build its total, Edwin Ronquillo’s Taurus squad drew 525 from Hadi Pacheco, 488 from Olie Jacinto and 455 from Ric Nangel.
Along with its two slams Taurus posted the league’s perfect double during the eighth week of the tournament sponsored by Zikato Construction Co. through Operations Manager Albert Zuniga.
Cyclone followed its Team of the Week award-winning display thanks mainly to Christopher Sayson and Salic Mudag who rolled 533 and 530. Randy del Remedios added 493, Fatima Jintarat made 481 and Tito Cruz had 462.
Selections got a boost from the trio of Jhun Ejanda, Lexter Atienza and Jude Vivero who shot 554, 548 and 538 in that order. Thea Busico at 490 was the other player to do full games, while Xtine Stone had 137-172 and Rico Parcon 150.
Cesar Sacramed led the way at Zikato on 463 followed by team captain Toto Lim 454, Arman Gamboa 440 and Delia Javing 421. The other scorers were Gemma Zuniga 129089 and Vangie Lim 120.
