JEDDAH: Abdulrahman Al-Fahad, assistant general manager for public relations at Saudi Arabian Airlines, revealed that over the mid-semester break, Dubai topped the list of tourist destinations, followed by Egypt and Turkey. On the domestic front, Jeddah and Madinah attracted the maximum air traffic, followed by the southern region.

He said 70 percent of flights are domestic flights, while 30 percent are international.

He said the new mechanism to confirm purchased tickets within two hours after booking has reduced no-shows by 99 percent, as the wait time was reduced significantly. Fines for no-shows are strictly applied, as per regulations, he said.

He said plans for the mid-semester break included the operation of 6,154 trips, both domestic and international, between March 10 to 20. Last Thursday, 585 flights were operated, with 532 flights on Friday and 572 on Saturday.

Daily flights will reach their height this coming Thursday, he said, with the operation of 608 flights in less than 24 hours.
