A dazzling array of sculptures by Saudi artists is on display at the Furniture and Decoration Exhibition in Jeddah.

Arabian Wings, known for its support of Arab artists, has organized the exhibition to introduce Saudi talent to the world. There are eight sculptures in steel, iron, plaster, marble and stone at the exhibition.

“This is a remarkable collection. I’ve been to Europe and other countries but haven’t seen such amazing work by our artists. Allah has mentioned in the Qur’an that He has made all things beautiful and I’m fortunate to see such artistic expressions created with materials that are generally difficult to work with,” said Maha Ahmed, a visitor. Another visitor, Ahmed Malik, also praised the creations and said that Saudi artists are on par with international talents.

“Our mission is to support Saudi artists. The art of sculpture is not given as much attention as other forms of art. This is why Arabian Wings organized a sculpture awards contest for a convergence of cultural bonds between artists and intellectuals, and to put the names of Saudi artists on the Arab and world map,” said Mohammed Bahrawi, founder and chairman of Arabian Wings.

He said the fair was an excellent opportunity to showcase the work of the Saudi artists because it is fashionable to decorate homes with sculptures.

“I’m sure that after seeing the extraordinary creations, there will be an increased interest in the art of sculpture, and that we’ll have more participants in the contest next year.”

He said Arabian Wings hosts an annual limited edition book project, exhibitions and workshops. “On Dec. 4 we are going to have a Saudi art work auction which will include all kinds of artistic artifacts,” Bahrawi said. The different sculptures at the fair feature work entitled “Arabian Spring” and the “Waiting Patron.”
