JUBAIL: More than 20 German companies showcased their catalogs of products and services at an exhibition opened at the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Asharqia Chamber) in Jubail.

Asharqia Chamber and the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO) jointly organized the show.

Rashid bin Abdullah Al-Rashed, a member of Asharqia Chamber, said the economic relations between the two countries were good, which reflected in the reputation of German products among Saudi consumers and the level of the presence of German companies in the local market.

“It is a significant catalog show representing many German products and services in various sectors, including construction, machinery and metal products, health care, waste disposal, real estate, and food and beverages, in addition to industrial and emergency services.

Al-Rashed stressed that these products and services have bright prospects in the Kingdom, especially in the Jubail industrial zone, which is the chemical and petrochemical industries center.

“The Saudi-German trade relations will witness a significant growth in the coming years,” he said confirming that Asharqia Chamber is ready to cooperate with German companies in selecting local partners for joint projects.

According to German government statistics, intra-regional trade increased by nearly 10 billion euro in 2014, and German exports to the Kingdom amounted to 9 billion euro, while its imports from the Kingdom amounted to 1 billion euro.

More than 700 German companies currently operate in the Kingdom with investments totaling $ 8 billion, according to the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA).
