Al-Ahsa Province Deputy Gov. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Barrak opened the state-of-the-art Mobily technical center in Al-Ahsa region in the Eastern Province, which was attended by Essam bin Othman Al-Jubair, senior executive officer, facilities and administration; Mohammed Al-Belwe, executive GM of corporate communications and PR, and other Mobily executives.

The inauguration of the latest center is stated to be in line with Mobily’s vision of consolidating its leadership position in information and communication technology in the region.

The center offers 560 sqm of dedicated space, with a possibility of expansion up to 1,200 sqm. The new center in Al-Ahsa has been constructed, keeping in mind the increasing needs of the local population because of the explosive growth the region has achieved.

Al-Jubair pointed out that the opening of the new Al-Ahsa data center highlights Mobily’s resolve to develop infrastructure and diversify its products and services in line with the expectations of its customers. The development and construction of the data center will facilitate the expansion of network and distribution of services to facilitate customers in Al-Ahsa and will result in increased network resilience across the Kingdom.

The new data center is based on the best practices, and is set to be among the top of the line specialized data centers from the perspective of disaster risk management, recovery and business continuity.

The center is geographically located at an ideal location. It is 350 km from Riyadh, 160 km from Dammam and also close to the UAE and Qatar. This will improve the coordination and synchronization between the data centers at all locations providing improved response time and improved backup support.

It is based on the specifications of TIER II Institute (Uptime); the institute, based out of America has evaluated the center with the score of 99.98 percent for uptime and business continuity.
