The Jazan Economic City (JEC) project and by extension its sub-projects, being built on a 100 sqm site northwest of the existing Jazan city, will have a refinery and terminal, a power plant, a commercial seaport, a water desalination plant and sanitary drainage systems in addition to several more facilities.

The Jazan Refinery and its IGCC (Integrated Gasification Combined-Cycle) Power Plant are two major sub-projects of JEC designed to increase the supply of crude oil, enhance energy production, attract investment and consequently positively impact the region’s development.

The Ministry of Petroleum & Mineral Resources awarded Saudi Aramco the license to build the export oriented crude refinery as per the highest international standards and best industry practices. The Jazan Refinery will thus, utilize cutting edge processes and technology to increase the supply of crude oil to parts of Asia, Africa and Europe, significantly taking advantage of Jazan’s proximity to maritime routes in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.

The IGCC Power Plant, also led by Saudi Aramco will on the other hand improve the power generation capacity of the Kingdom thereby, helping to bridge the gap between future energy consumption and production.

Local manufacturing companies, including Electronic & Electrical Industries Corporation (EEIC), are leveraging this lucrative opportunity to power industrial infrastructure and contribute to the execution of these megaprojects.
