As part of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Saudi Arabia, the Rashtriya Institute of Science and Technology (RISE), a Mumbai based NGO that is currently doing seminal work in the area of medicare, education and rural uplift, has signed an agreement with the Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank for implementing an “ambitious medicare program” in India.

The program will first be rolled out in Maharashtra where RISE has already implemented mobile medical units (MMU) in the rural (tribal) areas of the western Indian state.

"The details of the collaboration with IDB and the rollout plan for the MMU project with IDB and the areas where this program will be implemented will be announced shortly after finalization," said a press release from RISE.

RISE, chaired by Dimple Kapani, a former successful business person, has several distinguished personalities on its advisory board.

RISE claims to be already involved in several path-breaking projects across India, from the tribal districts of Rajasthan to the landmark Taleem ki Taquat, an outreach program to create awareness among the underprivileged section of society on the importance of education in order to upgrade their status in life and being gainfully employed.
