King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) has opened a dedicated gateway to facilitate the movement of light and heavy vehicles in the Industrial Valley.

The new Gate No. 3 will allow direct access to the Industrial Valley (IV) via a smoother and shorter route and eliminate the interaction between the valley’s tenants’ traffic and KAEC heavy duty construction vehicles.

With the launch of the new gateway, the city has a total of four gates that will serve as access points, including the Main Gate No. 1, which is allocated for residents and visitors to the city, and Gate No. 2 for vehicles and construction machinery, while Gate No. 4 is dedicated for the King Abdullah Port. A fifth gate, which is adjacent to the Haramain railway station, is scheduled to open next year.

Fahd Al-Rasheed, MD and CEO of KAEC, said: “With the tenants’ newly constructed residences becoming occupied, facilities becoming fully operational and the development of Phase 2 under way, the amount of traffic in and out of the Industrial Valley has increased to the point where it is essential to allow tenants to enjoy independent direct access separated from light and heavy vehicles. In effect, the new Gate 3 will reduce the heavy traffic load on the city’s Main Gate, which is the point of access for the owners of villas and town houses in KAEC’s upscale residential districts."

Rayan Qutub, COO of the Industrial Valley in KAEC, stated: “Many of the industrial companies that have invested in the Industrial Valley have actually begun to establish their factories and operational facilities, while some have already started production, including Mars Saudi Arabia; the largest chocolate factories in the world, GREIF; a world leader in textile and plastic packaging products and services, and Petra Engineering Industries.”
