King Abdullah Port received the largest cargo ship coming from Greece.

The giant ship, MSC London, has a length of 399 meters, width of 54 meters, depth of 16 meters, and capability of carrying more than 16,500 TEU. It weighs a total of 189,000 tons, making it one of the largest container ships in the world.

The vessel crew were welcomed by Ports Development Company, Economic Cities Authority team, and the coast guards of King Abdullah Port Security, King Abdullah Port Customs, King Abdullah Port Passport Control, Huta Marine and National Container Company.

Abdullah Hameedaddin, managing director of Ports Development Company, said in a statement: “It gives immense pleasure to everyone stationed at the port to witness the arrival of the largest cargo ship docked on the Kingdom’s sidewalks. This is considered a significant step and a major leap in the work of shipping, cargo handling and logistical operations at the port.”

King Abdullah Port has one of the highest technical specifications and holds tremendous potential. It is thus one of the most important ports able to gain the confidence of global sea lines and attract giant ships, as demonstrated by MSC London. The huge ship has demonstrated the enhanced handling operations. It also has contributed to increasing the volume of goods coming into the port and to boost the national economy.”
