Mohammed Al-Mojil Group (MMG), a specialized Saudi contracting company, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GSK Engineering & Construction, one of the South Korean engineering and construction outfits operating in Saudi Arabia as a foreign investor.
The MoU is intended to raise competitive edge for both partners and win new medium and large-scale projects like Riyadh and Jeddah metro projects.
The MoU is signed in the course of the restructure plan followed by MMG that essentially focuses on high quality services. These include qualified labor, scaffolding, utilization of MMG fabrication facilities located in Rabigh and Dammam to manufacture higher quality steel sections, boilers, pressure tanks, piping foundations, platforms and other technical systems.
The service stream also includes, labor camps, catering, equipment and strategic facilities like mobile lifts, generators, high-top tracks, excavators, hydraulic hammers, compacting and leveling rollers among others that are critical to construction companies like GSK that targets the Saudi market for a more active role.
MMG CEO Hafiz Shafei said: "This alliance comes in time where MMG is recovering and making progress on employee-related issues like work permit and iqama renewal, regularization of salary payments and collecting claims from clients. This MOU will uplift MMG's competitiveness and allow it access to new projects to rebalance financial stance and return to the market anew."
GSK Engineering & Construction Chairman Yohan Kim said: "Such partnership with a reputable company like MMG gains us better chance to complete the current projects and solicit new ones. It really supports our know-how transfer plans to localize wide spectrum of specialties in which GSK has an edge such as housing development and research, smart residences that are based on digital technology and other products, whether commercial, multi-purpose, medical, state, private, firefighting facilities, electromechanical resources, advanced lighting technology, water treatment or recycling.”
