Energy consumption is now taking center stage in most countries worldwide, rich and poor alike, with focuses on the development of alternative sources to cater to the high energy consumption of industrial plants and equipment, and on the development of energy-saving products such as lighting and electrical appliances.

UNICOIL, a Saudi industrial company, has developed and introduced Shinko, an energy-saving pre-painted steel product.

This product has advanced specifications and is the first steel product of its kind, both at the national level and throughout the GCC and Middle East. This state-of-the-art product supports the Kingdom’s drive to save energy through the development and use of smart energy-saving products.

Most pre-painted steel products are used for the walls and roofs of industrial hangars, storage warehouses, and workshops.

The hot climatic conditions in Saudi Arabia mean that white pre-painted steel is the most widely used, given its scientifically and practically proven low heat absorption properties compared to darker colors, which reduces heat permeability inside these buildings.

UNICOIL, described as the oldest and largest manufacturer of pre-painted galvanized steel in the MENA, excels in its strategy that centers on introducing state-of-the-art smart products as part of its primary product mix, thereby advancing the traditional uses of steel products.

UNICOIL states that it constantly studies local and regional market needs, which has revealed that many consumers would like to use colors other than the dominant white.

At the same time they fear that these other colors will be more heat absorbent and allow more unwanted heat to permeate into production and storage facilities.

UNICOIL contacted world-renowned paint manufacturers and worked alongside them to develop energy-saving paints for use in pre-painted galvanized steel coatings, which is UNICOIL’s core business. These cooperative efforts have resulted in the development and introduction of smart paints in a variety of colors.
