Pfizer Inc., one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, participated in the Pioneering, Efficiency, Diversity and Distinctiveness Forum, which was held recently in Riyadh with the support of Labor Minister Adel Fakeih.

The forum aimed at shedding light on the most important challenges facing the labor market in the Kingdom, which included developing the national human resources, creating diversity and activating women’s participation in the business sector.

Hussein Al-Hakim, director general of Saudi Pfizer, said the company’s support and participation in the activities of the forum fell within the company’s high regard on the value of skills development and training, particularly in an industry that is based on science and knowledge like medicine.

He also noted that the future depends mainly on development of human resources and investment in developing the resources.

Al-Hakim confirmed the keenness of Pfizer since its existence in the Kingdom in the sixties to deepen strategic partnership with the Ministry of Health, Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), government and private institutions, and the medicine industry in the Kingdom.

Hard work has gone into developing the health care and pharmaceutical industry in the Kingdom, he added.

Against this backdrop, Al-Hakim said, the company established Saudi Pfizer Company Ltd. Factory for the production of the company’s medicine at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).

The objective for the establishment of this institutional entity and industrial installation does not stop at just creating job opportunities for qualified Saudi nationals, but exceeds this as it has an important strategic dimension, which is to localize technical knowledge, transfer global expertise and boost the Kingdom’s capabilities in this vital sector for the production of medicines of high quality with international standards, Al-Hakim added.
