Riyad Bank partnered with the Al-Bir Charity in Al-Hawiyah in Saudi Arabia’s Hijaz region to support a community-centered project that will empower local women to enter the workforce.

The initiative, running in a village outside of Taif, is part of Riyad Bank’s strategy of supporting development initiatives in communities around the country.

The project includes training courses for the local community’s women in professions such as embroidery and beauty-related services for a period of 4 months.

The training will be overseen by the region’s technical colleges and the chamber of commerce.

The women will also receive equipment to start their own enterprises, including sewing machines at the end of the training.

The aim is to equip these women with the skills and the tools to become wage earners, to support their families.

“This project is one of many worthy causes that Riyad Bank is supporting, based on our belief in sustainable development for local communities,” said Najla Al-Dowayan, vice president and director of social responsibility department at Riyad Bank.

“We are working to empower the females of deprived families in communities across the country, to support them as they aim to overcome social issues and earn a living wage.”

The director said: “The potential of these women is remarkable, and what Riyad Bank is doing in support of this project is providing a platform through which these families can develop their skills, become self-reliant, support their families and improve their futures.”
