Saudi Arabian Airlines will resume its flights to the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh on Thursday. It will operate four weekly flights each from Riyadh and Jeddah, a Saudia official said.

“The flights from Riyadh to Sharm El-Sheikh will be operated on Saturdays, Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays while the Jeddah flights will be on Saturdays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays,” the official said.

Saudia will operate Embraer 320 aircraft for its Sharm El-Sheikh flights, the official said while disclosing the airline’s plan to increase frequency to the Egyptian city considering the demand of passengers traveling on the sector.

Passenger traffic between Saudi Arabia and Egypt has witnessed remarkable increase in recent months, especially during summer, Umrah and Haj seasons.

In a related development, Saudia launched a new service that would help customers view entertainment programs on their cell phones and laptop computers while traveling on its Airbus 320 flights to Frankfurt, Rome, Milan and Geneva.

“We have also made this service available on a number of other domestic and international flights,” said Abdul Mohsin Junaid, executive vice president for commerce.

He said the service is now available on six A320 aircraft of the airline, adding that it would be made available on all other aircraft soon.

“Passengers having laptop computers with Windows systems will be able to get WiFi connection to watch the entertainment programs,” Junaid said while stressing the national flag carrier’s consistent efforts to improve services.
