SEDCO Holding Group launched its Riyali program for financial literacy for students between the 4th and 6th grades as part of its CSR program targeting the Saudi community. The program aims to enhance financial literacy of students through teaching them about important components such as financial dignity, needs, desires, borrowing and investment.
This extracurricular program was prepared carefully to tailor to kids. A pilot stage of the program had been initially conducted in various private schools. Subsequently, the program plans to expand to public schools across the Kingdom.
The launch of Riyali kids program came after a recent survey of parents and teachers revealed that 86 percent of respondents believe educating kids on financial matters is important, while 79 percent believe that money habits should be taught before the age of 12. Respondents believed that this was achievable through encouraging kids to devote part of their daily allowance toward savings, as well as through scholastic curriculums, which include educational material dedicated toward teaching kids the value of saving money.
Anees Moumina, CEO of SEDCO Holding Group, said: “SEDCO Holding believes in the importance of formulating a solid partnership with citizens while also taking care of its community. We chose Riyali program for financial literacy as part of our social responsibility program due to the close nature between it and our line of work in wealth management and investment. This program isn’t only important, but is a duty in order to secure a better, more financially literate community.”
Amr Banaja, VP, corporate communications and marketing at SEDCO Holding Group, said: “The launch of Riyali kids program is the second phase of Riyali financial literacy program, which was launched last year and which targeted university students. The program continues to successfully raise financial awareness through the various workshops.”
