Subway restaurants across the Kingdom will continue to support government and civilian agencies in their awareness campaigns, especially those targeting young generations in all schools, universities and institutes, said a top executive.
Mohsen M. Adeeb, CEO of Shamal Food Company, was speaking at the fifth annual meeting of all Subway sub-agents in Saudi Arabia.
The event marked Shamel Food Company receiving the award of Best Development Agent in the Middle East and Africa and all international promising markets.
The story of Subway in Saudi Arabia started in January 1993 when the first Subway restaurant was opened in Saudi Arabia in Olaya Main Street, opposite the Ministry of Municipality and Rural Affairs.
“We fully understand that we are about to start a new stage of Subway restaurants since we have become one of leading fast food restaurants,” said the CEO. Subway is the largest fast food restaurants in the world at present. The number of Subway restaurants in more than 100 countries exceeds 42,000.
In Saudi Arabia, Subway has branches in Riyadh, Deriyah, Jeddah, Madinah, Yanbu, Rabegh, Khobar, Dammam, jubail, Ahsa, Makkah Al-Mokarramah, Taif, Braidah, Onayza, AlRass, Hail, Tabuk, Abha, Zulfi and Al-Kharg. “By the end of 2015, we expect to raise the number of branches to 115,” said the CEO.
New outlets are planned in Hafr Albaten, Al-Khafji, Northern Borders region, Al-Jouf and the rest of Southern regions.”Our customers require a better substitute of fresh, high quality meals with many low-fat options, prepared from best components that satisfy customer’s requests,” he said. “As we strive to increase the number of branches to 200 branches over the next five years, we are fully aware of our huge responsibilities,” said the CEO.
“Also, we fully understand that we are about to start a new stage of development, as we have become one of the leading fast food restaurants,” he said.
“In addition to assuming our role to provide fresh, high quality, value meals, we must take full responsibility toward the Saudi community,” said the CEO. He added: “Undoubtedly, we realize that maintaining success and leading position is far more difficult that achieving them.”
The CEO said; “We are determined to continue leading this successful company to more successes, with the efforts and support of all Subway family in the Kingdom, sub franchisees, employees (who represent the backbone of this establishment), providers and all strategic partners who have relations with Subway.”
