Oh 2015, you’ve been filled with so many beauty blunders and amazing beauty regimens that we can hold on to, you will truly be missed. Like the previous article, there were trends that are simply tragic, there’s more! Good beauty products and techniques are always great to learn and integrate into your makeup routine, hair trends are evolving but there’s always a downside to these new trends, some are flattering and others are described in three words: Eeks! Yikes! And what the ...? In continuation to the previous article, here are some more of last year’s beauty trends that need to stay back in 2015.

Last year was a big boom for the matte lip stain and lipsticks business, major labels such as Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Nars and many more made a huge impact in the business. Some of the major labels stuck to the classical colors, other brands that aren’t so famous but have profoundly impacted the market made their way into the scene nicely with an amazing array of colors to choose from. Some of the colors though are not that amazing though and should only be used in costume parties. Electric blue, kelp green, pumpkin orange, canary yellow, lavender hue, and oh so many more crazy colors are very difficult to accept for everyday use. These rainbow hues don’t fit in, yes they’re fun but come on! Do you really need that forest green shade? Or raven black? Seriously.. stay away from them and keep them locked up for those special crazy parties with your closest “nonjudgmental” friends, trust me, it’s better that way, you don’t want to be mistaken for a gremlin walking out in the daylight.

The man bun was all the rave last year, some are still donning it this year.. really guys move on already! What’s worst is the man bun clip on, a clip on! Wow that has got to be one crazy trend that is a definite ugh-ly. Why would you want a clip on just to follow a trend? It’s temporary and really not that flattering. Men, listen up, it really isn’t that difficult to understand so hear this loud and clear: IT ISN’T FLATTERING! If I ever saw a man with a clip on man bun I’d poke it to make sure it’s not alive and nesting on your head.

Speaking of hair, it’s fun to change your hair color every once but naturally to maintain it, you have to color your roots right? A trend suddenly turned up in late 2015 and it involved glitter. If you’re planning to join the unicorn army, then go right ahead but if you’re not, then please don’t. Ladies, leave the glitter for kid projects or better yet leave it for the fairies and fairy dust, a bit sarcastic you might say? Well it’s glitter, what did you really expect? Even Tinkerbell doesn’t have glitter roots and she’s a Disney character, message understood? Thank you.

One more hair trend worth mentioning and leaving behind — the side shave. Why? A woman’s mane is her calling card, her crown and it’s amazing what you can do with it, so why do some women take on a shaver and do that? No one knows. It’s one of those trends that are extremely bizarre and oh so very ugly. If you want a side part with a sleek one side, just tuck your beautiful strands behind your ear, please pretty please or someone will come along and force that shaver out of your hands.

Next are eye lashes, all women want thick long lashes and the Internet is filled with home remedies and commercial eye lash creams, mascaras and pills that promise natural, long and thick lashes. The sane ones opt for fake lashes that blend naturally to the natural lashes but there are those who go all out. Amping up your lashes is a surefire way to draw attention to your eyes but it has to be done just right or else it’ll look like you have black spider webs for lashes, again leave those for costume parties or someone will pull them off just out of curiosity, stay safe.

Last but not least, nails. Yes, sigh, nails again. Ladies, listen up and listen well, stop playing with your nails. This is not a suggestion, it’s a plea. With all the colors out there and designs, how in the world is it cool to have 3-D art on your nails? 3-D art should only be made on computers, not on nails! Enough with the weird characters, the hello kitties, the bows and butterflies, they’re not flattering, they’re really really ugly! Why would anyone want to put on all that weight on your nails? What if one of those ribbon things ended up in your salad or stuck in your hair? Think about that for a second, spending so much money and time on nail art that makes your nails look like they’re taking part in a cosplay summit, bleh!

Let’s hope that 2016 will be a revolutionary year for beauty products and let’s hope that women everywhere think clear and happy thoughts, again, leave the fairy dust to the fairies.
