We spoke to Sephora’s makeup experts for tips and tricks for the perfect autumn look.

Lips

Escape the autumn chill and avoid chapped lips by making a homemade sugar lip exfoliating scrub. Use a mixture of sugar, olive oil and honey to keep your lips soft and brush off dead skin. Moisturize your lips with some Sephora lip balm. Use a foundation or concealer before applying lip color to make the color last longer.

For smaller lips to look fuller

Avoid dark shades of lip liners and lip colors. Use neutral or lighter shades instead. Draw an outer lip line to give the illusion of larger lips. After applying the color of your choice, apply a bit of gloss in the middle of the lip to give volume and make your lips look fuller.

For fuller lips

Draw the liner directly on the lip line to contain your lips. Darker colors give the illusion of smaller lips. Matt colors also help in reducing the size of the lip.

Always choose a color that compliments your skin-tone and eye color. Bright red lips look gorgeous on those with a fair complexion and green eyes. If you have brown eyes, you are one lucky girl as you can carry off almost any lip color depending on your hairstyle and the size of your lip. For those blue-eyed beauties, shades of orange, copper, brown and nude look fabulous.

Blushes

The same goes for blushes; always use a blush that suits your skin tone. Pink blushers on a pink skin tone and red blushers on fair skin are a bad idea as they seem too loud. Shades of peach and orange are best for those with an olive skin tone and blue eyes. Brunettes look best in orange/peachy blushers while pink only suits those with a fair, almost yellow skin tone.
