An audience of more than 200 theater lovers recently enjoyed the play “Dead body zero” in a Taif theater.

The play is about people who saw a dead body lying on the pavement. They panicked, but agreed on calling the police. A police investigator came to the scene to make the necessary arrangements and investigations. He questioned the witnesses in a comic way. The witnesses were afraid of being convicted of murder. All of a sudden, the body came to life and ran away. Now, the police officer is in a dilemma: How can he return to the police station without a body, as the dead one suddenly became alive?

The Taif Association for Arts and Culture regularly performs plays. The association also held training courses for new actors who attended an intensive acting course. The actors who participated in the play were the products of this course.

Playwright Fahd Al-Harhi said, “My play is about a murder that was never committed. The dead body represents the intellectual who fell down on the pavement. This lead to the same question in every scene: Who killed the intellectual? When the police investigator got tired of searching for the killer, he accused all the people. The ‘dead’ body did not gain any benefit from the investigations. When he saw it would be a very lengthy procedure, he left the location saying that nobody would benefit without knowing who killed him. The defendants danced a happy dance, knowing they would be released and were innocent.”

Director Sami Al-Zahrani said, “This is my first experience as a director. I depended on a new generation of actors who attended many theater-training courses at the association. I benefited from their ambition and talents to achieve a wonderful performance. The audience liked the play and reacted positively.”
