Eight students from the Bangladesh International School, English Section in Jeddah (BISESJ) have left for Washington to attend the Global Young leaders Conference (GYLC) from June 21 to July 3.
The event is designed to educate, inspire and motivate students by giving them opportunity to explore cultural differences, learn diplomatic skills, build confidence and enhance their decision-making abilities.
The students traveled in the company of Firoz Alam, the student counselor and carried the flag of Bangladesh with them in respect and recognition of their country.
There is a need to understand that the world is going global and it will be a proud moment when students will experience the way the UN works.
“Students will return from the GYLC with a valuable perspective on their own careers and future leaders in our international community. They will get a rare opportunity of visiting United Nations headquarters, the White House, the National Mall, Washington Monument, and many other places,” he said.
The students will debate on policies of global politics, economy, cultural issues and solutions to crises.
“The GYLC bring students from around the world on a common platform to enhance their understanding, tolerance and acceptance of others. Our school understands, recognizes and appreciates the revolutionary changes that have taken place in the field of education. The changes are rapid and competition is harsh. It’s important to equip students with the skills they need to survive in the 21st century,” said Kazi Neamul Bashir, chairman of BISESJ.
Students said they expected this trip would provide a different experience, which would help them shape their future in a better way so they could use their skills for the better future of the country and nation.
The eight students who are on the trip are Minal Enam, Fuad M. Sayeed, Rohaan Nazrul Islam, Fatin Salsabil, Mahmud Hasan Orin, Sameera Islam, Huda Mustafa and Umme Salma from grade 10 to 12.
