April 15: Mail Online report by Charlotte Dean states that a drug-resistant strain of typhoid is spreading through Pakistan and has infected at least 850 people since 2016. The strain which is resistant to five types of antibiotics is predicted to spread across the globe, according to the National Institute of Health Islamabad. It is expected to replace the weaker strains in areas where they are common as experts recognize just one remaining working antibiotic.
