In Milwaukee, Shaun Marcum pitched seven strong innings and Edwin Maysonet hit his first career grand slam to lead the Milwaukee Brewers over the Chicago Cubs.
It was the second straight win for the Brewers, who beat the Cubs in 13 innings Friday in a 5-hour game that ended just past midnight. Saturday's start remained at noon because it was a nationally televised game.
In Pittsburgh, Andrew McCutchen had a solo home run among his four hits, Jose Tabata also homered and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Houston Astros.
Charlie Morton (2-3) rebounded from consecutive poor starts and allowed one earned run in six innings, and the Pirates matched a season high for runs at PNC Park, winning for the first time in their past three games.

Volquez (2-2) escaped a few jams early in the game and then again in the fifth inning. The righty won his second straight start. He allowed one run and six hits, walked two and struck out five.
Halladay (3-3) is winless in his last five starts, the longest stretch in his Phillies career. His last win was at San Francisco on April 16.
In Cincinnati, Jordan Zimmermann extended Washington's streak of dominant starts, and Danny Espinosa homered for the second straight game, leading the Nationals over the Cincinnati Reds.
The Nationals lost catcher Wilson Ramos, whose right leg buckled while he chased a passed ball in the seventh inning. He had to be helped from the field.
Zimmermann (2-3) gave up five hits and struck out nine. Washington's starters have allowed one earned run or fewer 19 times this season.
In St. Louis, Brandon Beachy pitched six innings of one-run ball and helped himself with an RBI single, Michael Bourn added a solo homer and the Atlanta Braves beat the St. Louis Cardinals.
Beachy (4-1) allowed only two singles and lowered his ERA to 1.60, fifth best in the NL. He struck out six and walked four.
Bourn went 3 for 6 with two RBIs and two runs scored, and the homer was his first since Aug. 19, 2011, against Arizona.
In Los Angeles, Aaron Harang pitched eight solid innings, pinch-hitter Tony Gwynn Jr. hit a go-ahead RBI single, and the Dodgers improved the best record in the majors with a victory over the Colorado Rockies.
Harang (2-2) allowed a run on four hits and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the third, helping send the Rockies to their seventh loss in eight games and dropping them a season-worst 8 1/2 games behind the Dodgers (22-11).
The 6-foot-7 right-hander was 0-3 with an 8.64 ERA in his previous five starts against Colorado since Aug. 22, 2008, when he pitched six scoreless innings for Cincinnati in an 8-5 win at Coors Field.
In Phoenix, Matt Cain gave up three hits in six innings and singled in a pair of runs to help the San Francisco Giants end a nine-game losing streak against Arizona.
Cain (2-2) allowed a run, struck out eight, walked two and hit a batter in his first victory in five outings. Trevor Cahill (2-4) took the loss as the Diamondbacks were beaten for the sixth time in seven games.
