RIYADH: Saudi Arabia ranks eighth globally in terms of teenagers who use Snapchat with a 26 percent share of the total number of users, according to a Financial Times report.
Snapchat is a video messaging application. Users can take photos, record videos, add text and drawings, and send them to a controlled list of recipients.
But the report has drawn mixed reactions among netizens in the Kingdom. “Village girl” said in reaction to the report, “Entertaining and useful program and does not overheat.”
Mohammad added, “With this advanced messaging application, I wish progress and prosperity for all of us.”
However, Abdullah bin Abi said, “The program is a waste of time.”
According to Snapchat, the app’s users in May this year were sending 2 billion photos and videos per day while Snapchat Stories content was being viewed 500 million times per day.
This month the number reached 6 billion videos per day. Snapchat is valued at $10-20 billion.
The application was created by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy and Reggie Brown while they were students at Stanford University.
