The recent serial blasts in Patna indicate that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can go to any extent to gain a foothold in Bihar.

I completely agree with Bihar Chief Minister Nitesh Kumar who has alleged that the blasts were planned by the BJP to create unrest in the state and to stoke communal tensions for its political gain ahead of the national elections.

It is a known fact that Muslims and Hindus in Bihar live in peace and harmony. The BJP’s alleged act to drive a wedge between the two communities is condemnable. The Congress also rightly criticized the BJP for trying to create communal unrest in an otherwise peaceful state.

Keeping in view the track record of the BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the mere thought of the BJP coming to power sends shivers down the spine.

One can imagine as to what will happen to the country if these rioters come to power.

These days Modi is pouring scorn on almost all the secular leaders of the country and trying to convince the masses not to vote them. Modi must understand that Indians will refuse to take his sugarcoated poisonous lollypop. Indians are a secular people and will reject fascists like Modi, whose sole agenda is to promote Hindutva in the country.

The educated people of India are fully aware of the fact that the BJP is investing heavily in the media to change its image and fool the masses. It is sadly mistaken and will be rejected by the masses in the upcoming polls.

India should learn from the United States as to how electioneering is done there. Unfortunately, in India we start making below the belt remarks against our rivals, which is condemnable. The relevant authorities must strictly implement a code of conduct during electioneering and violators should be dealt with an iron fist. — Anees Lokhande, Alkhobar
