Twelve Saudi artists organized an art workshop on Monday to commemorate National Day. The paintings aimed to show the artists’ patriotism for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah, and to the Kingdom.

The three-day workshop was held at The Gallery and was supervised by Najla’a Felemban, founder of Arabian Wings.

Saud Mahjoob, one of the artists, said that he had chosen to keep his paintings simple and used only black and white paints.

“I attempted to show how Saudi Arabia has grown and developed under the strong leadership of our beloved King through my art,” he explained. “This workshop has given us the chance not only to express our inner feelings through our paintings, but also to learn from others,” he added.

Mohammed Hydar, another artist, said that the workshop was an opportunity to use his talent and contribute to the festivities.

“It is a wonderful feeling to be able to exhibit my feelings for my country through my talent. I can express myself differently to others who paint their cars green and drive through the streets,” he said.

Nahr Marzoq, the famous Saudi artist and head of the Saudi Cultural Society, said, “National Day is important for every country in the world. We also want to show our love for our country through our paintings, which convey a message of peace and patriotism. Our paintings are a token of gratitude to our leaders and the nation.”

Najala’a Felmeban told Arab News that 10 children also participated in the workshop and created different paintings to celebrate Saudi National Day.

“We organized this workshop with the aim of providing educational activity to foster creativity,” she said.
